AAAS/Science Focus Group

The Science family of journals is moving to Atypon this summer. This move will encompass Science's archival content dating back to 1880, the journal's award-winning News and Careers publications, and the research and commentary in Science Translational Medicine, Science Signaling, Science Immunology, Science Robotics, and the open-access journal Science Advances. We invite you to share what you think makes for a seamless user experience and share what makes for a great administrative portal.

In appreciation for your help in our move, we will be sending you three of our Science family of journal favorites: Pat the penguin, Noble the nestling, and Sam the scientist.

Transforming Primary Source Research- Wiley Digital Archives
This interactive and live-demo focused session will introduce and give a deep dive into Wiley Digital Archives.

For this exciting and long overdue program to digitize the world’s learned societies, Wiley has tackled some of the greatest challenges to digital research scholars, students, and librarians alike have struggled to work through for nearly 2 decades. “How do I work with datasets created in manuscript form 240 years ago without transcribing everything?”, “I’ve found all my maps, but now what do I do with them?”, “I have a large ESL student population, and they aren’t able to use most of the current digitized collections out there due to language and interface issues-  How can I support them?”, and so many more of the Big Questions are what we hope to answer.

www.wileydigitalarchives.com

This 45-minute experience will take you deep into our incredible content, built onto a unique and advanced research platform that allows researchers to use historic documents in ways not previously possible- Exporting tables and charts, mapping and GIS tools over the largest map collection ever digitized, sharing results and images with friends and colleagues, full auto-translation of documents into over a hundred languages, and so much more.

Expect a fun, engaged session full of eye-popping moments as we dig into some of the great collections on the History of Science and beyond.  Feel free to send any questions ahead of time to kwheeler@wiley.com, and we will be sure to answer them/have them prepared for you.

Don’t Hate, Educate: Gale Resources to Support Higher Education Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives on Campus
The unjust murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor are painful reminders of the systemic oppression faced by the black community for far too long in the United States. The time is long overdue for our nation to finally face up to the persistent racial injustice that contributed to these senseless murders and other acts of violence. All of us must accept our collective and individual responsibility to create equality, justice, and opportunity for all. Doing nothing simply perpetuates the hatred in our society. Don’t hate, educate!

Join Gale for an overview of key collections that aim to educate users on the topics of racism, civil rights, and social injustice through a variety of sources. Primary source collections serve as living artifacts of history, case studies help students evaluate social issues through an intersectional lens, and literature course collections guide students toward a deeper understanding of cultures and forms of oppression through the works of diverse and global authors.

Introduction to Mindscape Commons and Policy Commons

NEW from Coherent Digital...

Mindscape Commons is the first project to document and deliver immersive and interactive videos and virtual reality (VR) experiences for teaching in counseling, social work, and psychology.

Policy Commons is the first platform to bring together more than 2 million policy documents from 21,100 organizations globally.

Both are focused on preserving “wild content” that’s scattered around the internet and in danger of disappearing—now stable, discoverable, and permanently protected in these projects. Each is the largest discovery service in its subject, linking users to original content, licensed premium content, and open content, much of it otherwise hard to find. Both projects are collaborative; they allow members to upload items and include other community features.
